Charity Cycle ride days 5 – 6

Tues 1st Dec, We were in a hotel for a one night stay standards not very good but adequate for what is required although no sleep due to rats in the room helping them selves to our spare health food bars and general contents of our bags so after that we just wanted to get up and get on with ride and move on .

The ride was fairly easy and we were at our next stop over quiet early in the afternoon so  breezing this at the moment 50 miles today.

Rode through park land where no vehicles are allowed and only wild life live there, scenery and wildlife amazing !!

Wed 2nd Up at 04.30 and riding by 05.30 , today was 120 Kms riding through Keoladeo Ghana national park

On route today we were amongst local villagers very trible and very primitive, these people make  their living  by making pottery and hand printing fabrics

Unless you saw it you could not comprehend how these people live with the very primitive farming methods and the main transport being the donkey and cart

Now at our new stop over after the long ride and feeling pretty good considering never used to ride a bike until now.

Staying in the Maharajas palace which is a massive contrast in luxury to anything we have stayed in before so, massage / food and sleep ready for early morning rise and another 105 Kms tomorrow.

Charity Cycle ride days 1-4

Friday 27th Good flight Newcastle to Heathrow then pick up over night flight to Delhi.
Saturday 28th Transfer to hotel bit of a white knuckle ride no traffic laws just a free for all !! was glad to get to hotel but not for its quality and not sure if there is such a thing as a minus star rating but did have a good meal and people are very friendly
Sunday 29th 04.30 start, to get the train to Agra and visit the Taj Mahal one of the most fantastic building / monuments you could ever imagine.
In the afternoon meet the guides and set up the bikes and the equipment ready to go early in the morning.
Monday 30th Up early breakfast a bit dodgy but ok. Ride from Taj to Sikri via Fatephur about 50 Kms today slowly building up to the long distance days.
Today the best way to explain the riding conditions are :- if you imagine the M25 in rush hour full of bikes rickshaws tuttuts cars buses lorries and horses /donkeys prams pot holes in the roads and everyman for himself  and stop to offer the children a sweet or a treat and within seconds we were mobbed by about 100 kids wanting more! that was not the best idea we had today, well that was a mild description of the conditions, but we have survived and eaten quite well and now in bed ready for another early start.Tuesday is a slightly longer ride than today.
